Do-it-yourself country cart for inventory and tools

Earlier we talked about decorative and work trolleys that can be used in the country. But the first ones are an unusual and original decoration in landscape design, and the second ones are carts for moving building materials, fertilizers, and garbage around the territory. Therefore, they are not very suitable for us.

Today we decided to pay attention to another type of trolley, which is used to transport tools, equipment and everything else, which is difficult to transport manually to the summer cottage. Such trolleys are easily designed for themselves and are created with their own hands in a matter of hours.

Why do you need a cart in the country

It is very simple to answer this question, especially if you are the owner of a working summer residence, with a garden, a large garden, perhaps a workshop or even your own business in the territory.

In fact, such a cart is very necessary, because it greatly facilitates your work and saves time. Physical effort is required much less, and you are minimally tired if you transport all the heavy tool on a cart at once. Moreover, you do not have to spend expensive free time to ply in the country. Imagine that you are building a small landscape object. You need to run into the barn for a shovel, a hammer, an ax, bring some power tools, paints and brushes for decoration, and all that. How many times will you go from a barn or a garage to a place of construction, what mileage will you wind up and how much time will you lose on this path? We think a lot. But you can just load the cart with everything you need and at one time transport everything to the place of work.

Moreover, a country trolley for tools and equipment can be quite versatile. It can be equipped with fasteners, drawers, removable holders, so that after such a transformation it would be possible to transport not only standard equipment, but also small parts, hardware and fasteners, and even water in tanks.

In short, such a trolley will not hinder practical summer residents, and everyone who really saw the need for it is welcome to the next section of the article, where we will tell you how to make a trolley with your own hands.

Cart Size and Purpose

It is better to immediately make the cart is not very small, but at least medium in size. A small one will not help you with heavy equipment and special devices, and a large trolley will be difficult to move due to subsidence in the ground if it is overloaded. The average option, which will fit all the necessary tools and equipment for normal work, is just right!

The size of the trolley is determined by its own requirements, but the trolley works quite normally, the dimensions of which are about 100 cm in length, 60 cm in width and 50 cm in height. Thanks to these parameters, the trolley easily passes through the doors of sheds and garages, moves between the main beds, between the trees in the garden and other objects of vegetation and landscape. Plus, the fact that such dimensions enable the trolley to be stable and not very heavy.

What to make a cart for inventory

The easiest option is to work with steel. You could use a tree, but it will only participate in the creation of certain accessories. But here is the frame, base, and also the frame under the wheels of the trolley - only of metal. Wood is well suited for the construction and production of a wide variety of cottage accessories. Unfortunately, it is less consistent with the requirements for a country carriage than metal.

According to the established sizes, or those that you yourself determine for your own convenience, the frame is welded from the profile pipe. It is advisable to make several jumpers along the long part of the frame so that across the trolley we have 1-2 more stiffeners.

Further, at the corners of the resulting frame, on each side of it, vertical racks are welded. They should turn out 8 pieces of the established size. On top of the racks, on the outside, walls are made of sheet metal. It is undesirable to use corrugated board here, since it is quite thin and will quickly wear out. But a steel sheet with a thickness of 2-3 mm is perfect.

From the same sheet, the base is cut out - the bottom, which is laid inside and screwed onto the frame with bolts. Here you can work with welding, but the bottom of the cart is the most subject to wear, and therefore it will be easier to replace it by simply unscrewing the bolts and putting a new sheet in its place. Each time, cutting metal and re-welding it is not very convenient.

The frame and frame are ready, the inner part and the outer skin are made. Now you need to make a wheelbase, and connect it to the frame to get the finished trolley.

Wheelbase for trolley

The base for the trolley will also be welded, and all from the same profile pipe. To do this, cut off two pieces of pipe that will be longer than the width of the base by the distance that is necessary for installing the wheels. It is also worth considering the size of the gap between the wheel and the trolley, so that even dirt, which will sometimes stick to the wheels, does not interfere with their free movement. To do this, it is enough to make a gap of about 3 cm.

Now, the pieces of pipe are welded together with several short jumpers, 15-20 cm, to get a narrow rectangle. And further, on its narrow edges, round pieces of pipe for mounting the wheels of the cart are welded strictly in the middle. There is already everything according to the usual scheme of installing wheels, which can be ready-made or assembled in stages, with the participation of the locking part and bearings, studs and fixing nuts.

The finished wheelbase is welded or screwed to the frame in the middle. After that, on one side of the frame is installed a handle for moving the cart. It is also worth thinking about the stops that will give the cart the opportunity to be installed exactly in relation to the ground.

As for the wheels, we want to note that they are possible in different sizes. The same applies to the entire wheelbase, because it can be done according to our own scheme ... we gave only a single example.

Modernization of the country cart

In fact, at this stage we have a country cart, the simplest and even ordinary, in which you can transport bags, bulk products, building materials, etc. But we do not need this, namely a trolley for tools and equipment. Therefore, you will have to work a little more.

The inner part, at will, can be left without any changes. Shovels, forks, scythe, choppers, plane cutters and other equipment can easily fit in here. Also, here you can install boxes with the crop, bags with fertilizers, tanks and special containers with water, liquid fertilizers. Very convenient, isn't it?

But it’s even better to work with the frame so that inside we transport only large accessories and materials, but all the tools are hung outside.

For this we will use a tree. On the one hand, we propose making a whole shield, a rectangular wooden base made of wood over the entire surface of the cart. On the shield you can install hooks, clips, clamps. It will now be very easy to fix or hang a hacksaw, hammer, putty knife, trowel, level and other small and light accessories.

On the other hand, on top of the frame of the trolley, we advise you to weld two profile pipes along. On the top we will install stops, and on the bottom - several L-shaped clamps along the trolley.

Thus, we get a design for the transportation of garden and garden equipment. Here you can put a few shovels, pitchforks, and everything else that is necessary for labor in the country.

How to work with a country cart

The practicality of such a cart in many ways. Now you don’t put just a few items in her main box, because you could carry them in your hands, but take with you everything you need.

Let's say spring seedlings are planting. You put a bag of fertilizer or substrate in a cart, set a plastic tank with water for irrigation nearby, and a box with young seedlings on top. Further, on one side of the cart you hang out a small hand tool with which you will make holes, on the other, lay shovels and choppers with which you will level the soil, earthing up, forming rows and paths.

Another example in which we definitely need such a trolley is working with landscape objects.

For example, we are building a small object in the garden, and for this we need bulk, piece building materials and special tools. In exactly the same way as in the previous example, we put everything voluminous and bulky in the main box, and fix the tool and equipment on the sides of the trolley.

A country trolley for tools and equipment is a good helper, which you can independently add from the remains of building materials, or create from new pipes, a steel sheet and fasteners. In any case, a homemade trolley will cost you many times cheaper than a purchased one, but it will also be much more convenient, because you will make it only for personal needs and requirements!
