Variety "Everest" refers to the poorly studied new hybrid forms of homestead grapes, which is characterized by an early ripening period. This hybrid has recently been grown by our country's winegrowers.
The “Everest” table type grape variety is the result of the crossing of varieties “B-12-1”, “Talisman” and “K-81”. The author of the new hybrid form is the famous folk breeder E.G. Pavlovsky. As a result of experimental crossing, it was possible to obtain a variety whose ripening takes about four months.
Despite the relative novelty, the winegrowers of our country managed to appreciate the quality characteristics of this hybrid plant.
The plant has an average growth rate and is characterized by the maturation of shoots throughout the entire length. Rooting during grafting is quite high. The form has a high commercial value and good indicators of transportability.
Flowers form bisexual. At the moment, indicators on resistance to defeat by mildew, oidiumas well as winter hardiness data are under study.
Technical characteristics of berries
The clusters are large enough, with high-quality external indicators and are not amenable to pea. The average mass of grapes can vary from 0.6 to 1.2 kg.
The berries are quite large, have a harmonious taste. The average weight of one berry can vary from 15 to 25 g. During the testing of the vine, damage by wasps was not recorded. Also, the presence of berries burst during ripening was not observed.
Other varieties from the selection of Pavlovsky E.G.
To date, several hybrid forms of vines belonging to breeder E.G. Pavlovsky are actively used in cultivation in homestead vineyards.
The plant from crossing the vine "Talisman" and the vine "Hybrid-41." Early-medium in terms of full maturity. Vigorous, with a bisexual type of flowers, forming clusters with an average weight of 0.5 kg. The berries have an oval shape, a dark bright red color and an average weight of 15 g. Taste is good, with the presence of a pronounced muscat aftertaste.
The vine is resistant to lesions by mildew, oidium and gray rot. Winter resistance criteria - up to minus 24 ° С.
The plant from crossing the vines "Golden Don" and "Zagrava". Early Medium Ripening. A tall plant with bisexual flowers, forming clusters weighing 0.5 kg. The berries are quite large, weighing 15.0 g, oval, pinkish color with a crispy type of pulp and harmonious taste characteristics.
Grapes are characterized by a high degree of resistance to defeat mildew and oidium. Winter hardiness criteria - up to - 21 ° С.
New hybrid forms of grapes E.G. Pavlovsky
A plant from crossing the Talisman vines with Sprinter grapes and the Hodzhibey Type. Superearly in terms of full maturity. The plant forms bisexual flowers. The clusters are large, weighing 0.5 kg. The berries are large, weighing up to 11 grams, oval-elongated and dark, bright red color. Taste characteristics are high. Muscat aroma and increased rates of sugar accumulation are observed.
The vine is characterized by resistance to damage by major fungal infections. Winter hardiness is limited to minus 24 ° С.
A plant from crossing vines "Demeter" and "Nistru." The average late ripening period. Vine with strong growth, forms bisexual types of flowers. The berries have an oval-elongated shape, large, matte, with a harmonious taste and weighing about 15 g. The clusters are distinguished by a pronounced conical shape, weighing from 0.5 to 1 kg.
The vine is resistant to mildew, oidium and gray rot. Winter hardiness limit - up to minus 23 ° С.
A plant from crossing vines "Talisman" and grapes of the variety "Roadside". Early dates for mass ripening of the crop. The plant is vigorous, forms bisexual flowers. The clusters have a weight of 0.5 kg. The berries are super-large, oval-elongated, reddish-purple, with a weight of up to 15.0 g. Taste harmonious. The vine is resistant to defeat mildew, oidium and gray rot. Winter hardiness -23 °
The plant was obtained by crossing varieties "Hybrid-41" and "Baklanovsky." Early-medium full ripening. The plant is vigorous, forms bisexual flowers and clusters with a mass of 0.5 kg. The berries are round-spherical, reddish-violet color, weighing more than 15.0 g each.
Taste harmonious. The vine is resistant to low temperature and fungal infections.
The result of hybridization "Hybrid-41" and "Mascot". Very early ripening dates. The plant is vigorous, forms bisexual flowers. Bunches weighing 0.5 kg. The berries are oval-elongated, weighing about 12.0 g and dark red color. Taste is harmoniouse. The vine is resistant to mildew, oidium and gray rot. Winter hardiness indicators - up to minus 24 ° С.
Landing and care
All grape varieties cultivated in a homestead economy that are selected by E.G. Pavlovsky, require compliance with the rules of landing and care:
- planting time depends on climatic and weather conditions in the cultivation region. In southern areas, standard planting takes place in November. Spring landing is from mid-March to mid-April;
- Before planting, the lower ends of the root system of the seedling should be updated;
- the standard diameter of the planting pit is 50 x 50 cm, and the depth should be 15 cm more than the underground plant stem;
- the seedling should be mounted on a peg when planting;
- the bottom of the landing pit is covered with mound humus mixed with soil and supplemented with superphosphate;
- the established seedling should be sprinkled up to half the pit with soil, which is compacted, then abundant watering is carried out;
- after watering, you should add soil with a cover of 3 cm of the upper eye of the plant.
Care consists in loosening and weeding the soil around the plants. Regardless of resistance to disease damage, spraying of plants should be carried out.
Autumn treatment against pests and diseases is carried out after harvesting and can be combined with measures for sheltering plants for the winter period. Organic fertilizers are added to the soil annually.
A scheme of irrigation measures should be developed and strictly adhered to. Pruning is done according to the length of the shoots.
Reviews of winegrowers
“Everest” grapes, reviews of which are mostly positive, have not yet been fully studied and its manufacturability remains a big question for many wine growers. However, a significant part of the hybrids from the first wave of selection by E.G. Pavlovsky is successfully cultivated in many regions of our country. More than fifty hybrids have already been tested in sections, most of which are considered successful.
Senator grapes: variety description
Since all hybrid forms of grapes developed by E.G. Pavlovsky are relatively new, it is recommended that they be propagated through seedlings acquired in nurseries.
